Furnace Oil

There are 2 grades of furnace oil:
Number 1 fuel oil or stove oil, as it is commonly know is a volatile distillate intended for vaporizing pot-type burners. It is the kerosene refinery cut that boils off right after the heavy naphtha. Stove oil is mainly used by homeowners that have outside tanks or homeowners that have equipment that specifies it. Stove oil typically costs more than regular heating oil but it may endure colder climates.

Number 2 fuel oil or heating oil, as it is commonly known is a distillate home heating oil that is very similar to diesel fuel used in trucks. Heating oil is the most common distillate used for residential and commercial heating.
